CaseCode

Case law database coverage explained plainly

The CaseCode case law database covers published US opinions, the complete U.S. Code and the Code of Federal Regulations. State statute coverage is growing over time. Unpublished opinions and some secondary sources are outside coverage.

What is included

Published opinions from federal courts and state courts of record, the U.S. Code and the CFR. Each opinion keeps its reporter citations so that checks resolve to the right page.

What is not included

CaseCode is not a citator, so it does not assign KeyCite or Shepard's style treatment flags. Treatises, practice guides and court dockets are not part of the database.

Why we state it

A research tool is only useful when you know what it searched. If an authority is outside coverage, the citation status says not found, and you should look in a source that covers it.
